Mackay Stories, p.17
August 12, 2007

Here is an interesting scan of an artist's rendition of the formal Italian Gardens at Harbor Hill designed by Jacques Greber c.1910. This scan is found in the Golden Age of American Gardens by Griswold and Weller. It is a 1923 rendition from a French journal. It was sent to me by Holly Collins who has recently been doing research concerning other Greber design projects on other estates in the Northeastern United States. Thanks Holly.
The glaring omission in this artist's rendition of the Mackay gardens is the two missing 40' high statues of the Marly Horses that graced the western most end of the gardens (the extreme left end of the gardens in this layout). Click here for a cross reference on this site.
