Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York
During the late 19th and early 20th Century wealthy families in New York City desired three things: A glamourous town house on 5th Avenue, a spacious country home on Long Island and a dignified final resting place at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. The Mackays surpassed the standard for all three.

Below, center and right, is the Mackay mausoleum ordered by Clarence's father, John W. Mackay, for construction in 1895 at the untimely death of Clarence's older brother, John W. Mackay, known as Willie. Willie and Clarie had grown up together with their mother in Paris and London. Willie was being groomed by his father to eventually take over the leadership of the Commercial Cable Company and the Postal Telegraph-Commercial Cable Company. With the passing of Willie, Clarence returned to the United States from London to go to work with his father and to learn the business.
